My name is Rita Ofili, The First Wheelchair Model,Actor, motivational speaker and advocate of persons with disability and a founder of Ephaphata Hope Foundation — and my journey began long before the runway.
Growing up as a little girl affected by poliomyelitis, I faced discrimination, stigma, and constant reminders that society did not expect someone like me to shine. These experiences hurt me deeply, but they also shaped my purpose.
Every day, I wished for a world where disability doesn’t erase a person’s dreams — where everyone is included in life’s little and big moments. Becoming a wheelchair model is my way of claiming visibility, rewriting the narrative, and creating the representation I never had.
My mission is bigger than fashion.
I want to use Beautifulmode.com platform to open doors, challenge stereotypes, and change the way Nigerians view wheelchair users. By being seen, I hope to inspire others to believe that their abilities, not their limitations, define them.
I am not just modelling clothes — I am modelling possibility, inclusion, and hope.
